STOP HUNGER NOW

NOTE:  This event has concluded for 2012 but this page can be a helpful resource to learn about the next event in 2013.  Watch as the next date becomes available.

Many goals have been set for 2012. From losing weight to paying off debt, these are all good goals to accomplish, but Church of the Servant wants you to consider taking on one more goal that is guaranteed to save a life!

Stop Hunger Now is Sunday, March 4. On that day, Church of the Servant's goal is to package over a 151,000 meals, which will be shipped to hungry people around the world.

Stop Hunger Now is a mission project in which Church of the Servant spends five hours on a Sunday morning once a each year making thousands of meals to be shipped all over the world to help feed hungry children.  Since we began participating in Stop Hunger Now two years ago, thousands of children, students and adults have participated in packaging 245,668 meals. These meals have gone to Haiti, Columbia, Brazil and Peru, as well as Angola, Ghana, and South Africa.

Watch as more information becomes available regarding our participation which will include:

  • assistance with set-up on Saturday, March 3
  • working a shift on Sunday, March 4, as we help pack Stop Hunger Meals

By participating in set-up on Saturday, Troop 177 directly enables more than 1,500 local children, students, and adults to come together on Sunday and quickly go to work in a very organized and effective manner.

On Sunday, by participating in the packaging of meals, you will be able to see first hand how with organization and a bit of community effort, thousands of meals could be packaged in just a few hours. It will take more time and effort, for relief organizations to transport and deliver those meals to those places where, due to natural disasters or impoverished economic conditions, they are badly needed. You should be proud to know that somewhere around the world, a hungry kid will be able to have a warm meal thanks in part to your work this weekend.
